We are gathered here today
That's what that girl tells herself
Repeatedly
Everyday.
In her head,
We are gathered here today.
We are gathered here today,
In loving memory.
She tells herself everyday.
In loving memory
She repeats it in her head,
Everyday.
Not brave enough to reach the end of the sentence,
In loving memory
She stops.
The tears hot on her cheeks cold on the tip of her tongue.
She swallows hard
Those cold tears cooling her stomach.
Trying again to reach the end
Of that sentence.
In loving memory
She can't.
Again
We are gathered here today
In loving memory
She won't.
Again
We are gathered here today
In loving memory
The tears continue to come
Showing no sign of stopping.
Again.
In loving
Again.
In loving memory
Again
Memory
Again
We are gathered
Again
Today
Again
Again
Again
Again.
We are gathered here today in loving memory
She reached the end.
"We are gathered here today in loving memory of that girl."
It is Me, It is I
He tells me it is me he's afraid of.
When his words reach my ears,
His words,
"I'm afraid of you"
Reach my ears
All I could do
Was cry.
It is I,
Me
Who he is afraid of.
And while I cry
He stares in fear.
Of course,
If
It is I he fears.
And I
Whisper into the thin air,
Allowing tears to enter my mouth,
It is I,
Me.
Till death do us part
You tell me to shout louder
When I do
You put your finger against your lips
And shush me.
You tell me to jump higher
When I do
You grab my ankles and pull me back down.
You tell me to listen
When I do
You don't say a word.
You tell me
I do
Till death do us part.
We Are All Poets
We are all poets.
As tacky as it sounds,
As untrue as it sounds,
We are all poets.
We aren't all good,
Nor deep.
But we all look at the world
And choose what to see.
And that's what makes a poet.
I Shall Pray to the Birds and Trees
I shall pray to the birds and trees
For they are the ones who taught me
That flying is possible.
Maybe as a human I cannot fly,
But I refuse to believe that flying is a myth.
And the trees.
I pray to the trees
Who have shown me that growth
Takes time.
Time we all have.
I pray to them both
For they have given me value,
They have given me peace.
איך
עד
